What You Wish For - one man's guide to life, death and alternative therapies

In 2002, life was going well for Paul Blacklow. He was newly married, the life of every party and, as a sports massage therapist, he was working with some of New Zealand’s top sportsmen. His goal was to run the Coast to Coast, but as he struggled increasingly in his training sessions he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease. The doctors told him he would lose all mobility and die within five years.

Paul, the quintessential Kiwi bloke, turned to alternative therapies. He gathered around him a team of therapists who accompanied him and his family on an exploration of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. With his wife Julianne, he had two children, born in 2004 and 2006.

This book is a compilation of what Paul learned through living with MND. He intended it to be a guide for people diagnosed with terminal illness, but Paul’s story combines determination, humour and love in an easy-to-read guide for anyone seeking balance in their life and the answers to some of life’s big questions.
